Privatisation Opportunity

The GOJ is the beneficial owner of the Assets relating to 3 sugar estates in St Catherine, Clarendon and Westmoreland which it intends to privatise. These estates are:
  • Monymusk, in the parish of Clarendon
  • Frome, in the parish of Westmoreland
  • Bernard Lodge, in the parish of Saint Catherine


Sugar Divestment Team

The Cabinet has appointed the Board of Directors of Sugar Company of Jamaica Holdings Limited (SCJH) to oversee the privatisation of the Assets owned by the GOJ and Mr Aubyn Hill, Chief Executive Officer of SCJH, as the lead negotiator for the divestment of the assets. The SCJ Holdings Board of Directors has selected a Sugar Divestment Team (SDT), chaired by Mr Aubyn Hill, whose responsibility will be to invite, assess, evaluate and recommend suitable prospective investors to Cabinet. The other members of the SDT comprise a cross-section of representatives from the public and private sector, and include:

  • Mr Archie Campbell (Accountant, University of the West Indies Lecturer)
  • Mr Wentworth Charles (Attorney at –Law, Director- Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica)
  • Mr Patrick McIntosh (Mechanical Engineer)
  • Ms Stephanie Muir (Attorney at-Law, Development Bank of Jamaica Limited)
